Carol was inspired to start a singing group, after watching Gareth Malone’s Military Wives series on TV.

She noticed how singing brought out a range of emotions in people, from joy and euphoria to pain and sadness. It was also evident to Carol that being part of a singing group provided people with the chance of being part of a social network, to be a part of something special, potentially touching the hearts of the singers and their audiences.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Upbeat! first began in January 2012, with a handful of friends and acquaintances.

Since then, the choir has gone from strength to strength and has raised substantial amounts of money for a wide range of charities. In fact, the list keeps growing!
